Honor Flight #15 – “Joe’s Flight”!
On September 14th, 26 WWII Veterans along with 22 guardians, and 2 team leaders flew out of Tucson on our 15th official Southern Arizona Honor Flight. The flight was named in honor of the late Joe Mendez one of our WWII veterans who took his Honor Flight in November of 2011. Joe seldom missed an airport send-off or return, and it is to his indelible spirit that this flight was named.
We would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the following groups who helped us get this flight off the ground:
Southeastern AZ Contractors Association sponsored G. Butler (WAC)

We would like to give a special thanks to Dee Brunner, Viki Matthews and everyone at the TAA for overall coordination with our group and for providing the send-off and welcome home crowds with parking validation. Our relationship with the American Airlines, DM Desert Lightning Team and Color Guard, the Patriot Guard Riders, the Ft Huachuca Military Intelligence Corps Band, and the Arizona Rangers make our send-offs and returns very special for everyone in attendance. Also thanks to the Honor Students of Emily Gray Jr. High School who made our vets feel so very special upon their return to Tucson.

The generosity of the entire community has enabled us to send these vets on their well-deserved trip. It is a very big effort and takes and amazing amount of collaboration to bring business, organizations, clubs, schools and volunteers together to make it all happen. What a special group of people, and I am proud to be a part of this wonderful organization.
